ILAC was formed in 2002 as an umbrella organization for associations of legal and human rights experts. Today ILAC's more than 40 member organizations represent over 3 million judges, prosecutors, lawyers and academics worldwide.
ILAC is open for membership to non-governmental organizations, including national and international Bar associations, human rights organizations and other organizations dedicated to the promotion of the rule of law.
